LOWER TRIM

Row 1 (RS) With RS facing, join yarn with sc in end of first row of Upper Strip (after sleeves are formed this is at the lower edge of front of Shrug), work 4 more sc across side edge of Upper Strip, sc evenly around lower edge, working 5 sc evenly across side edge of Upper Strip at other end of lower edge.

Row 2 Ch 1, turn; sc FL in each st across.

Row 3 Ch 1, turn; sc BL in each st across. Repeat last 2 rows until Lower Edging measures about 3"/7.5cm; end with a RS row.

Next Row (WS) Ch 1, turn, si st in each st across. Fasten off.

FRONT BANDS AND COLLAR

Row 1 (RS) With RS facing, draw up a loop of yarn in lower front corner to work up front edge, ch 3 (counts as dc), work 8 more dc evenly across edge of Lower Trim, work dc in each st up front edge, across back neck, and down other front edge, work 9 dc evenly across edge of Lower Trim.

Rows 2-9 Ch 3, turn; dc in each st across.

Note Try on Shrug before working Row 10, to determine appropriate placement for button loop.

Row 10 (WS) Ch 3, turn; dc in each st to appropriate location on left edge for button loop placement (about even with outer top edge of sleeves), ch 10, sl st in each ch across, insert hook through beginning of the ch-10 and into the front edge at base of ch and complete a si st to form and secure a button loop, dc in each dc across. Fasten off.

FINISHING

Note Designer recommends trying on Shrug before sewing on button, to determine appropriate placement. Weave in ends. Sew button to right front edge, opposite button loop.
