They come in a variety of vibrant colors and patterns, allowing you to customize your cords to match your personal style or decor.

To make this craft, you only need a few things.

Materials Needed

  • Perler Beads
  • Scissors
  • Headphones
  • Felt or a Shallow Dish
  • Needle-Nosed Pliers

I like to use a piece of felt to place my beads on while working so they’re less likely to roll away across my desk. You could use a little dish or plate or whatever you have to contain your beads. It’s optional, but does help.

Instructions

Step 1: Place the tip of a good pair of scissors into the perler bead hole and cut a slit all the way through the bead.

Step 2: Place the bead onto the tip of the needle nosed pliers and gently pry open the slit just a little bit.

Step 3: Slip the bead onto the headphone cord. The slit will automatically close up and you’ll hardly even be able to tell it was cut. Keep adding beads until you’ve covered the whole cord to your liking. I stopped where the two wires split to go to each earbud, but you could add perler beads to both of those strands too, if desired.

It’s that easy!

I chose a rainbow pattern with a white bead in between each color and I absolutely LOVE how it turned out! But just think of all the different patterns and color combinations you could try. So many possibilities!

You can also do this same technique to charging cords, etc. as long as the cord fits into the bead hole. No more boring cords! Bead all the cords!
