Notes
1. Hat is worked in joined rounds with right side facing at all times.
2. For a slouchier appearance, work additional rounds where indicated.
3. To change color, work last stitch of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete stitch. Proceed with new color. Cut old color.
4. When instructed to work in a stitch or space “2 rounds below”, work in round numbered 2 less than the current round. For example, if you are working Round 19, a stitch “2 rounds below” is in Round 19 – 2 = Round 17.
Special Stitch
Fptr (Front post treble crochet) = [Yarn over] twice, insert hook from front side of work to back and to front again around post of the indicated stitch; yarn over and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook), [yarn over and draw through 2 loops] 3 times.
Special Techniques
Adjustable-ring method = Wrap yarn in a ring, ensuring that the tail falls behind the working yarn. Grip ring and tail firmly between middle finger and thumb. Insert hook through center of ring, yarn over (with working yarn) and draw up a loop. Work stitches of first round in the ring, working over both strands (the tail and the ring). After the first round of stitches is worked, pull gently, but irfmly, on tail to tighten ring.
Join with sc = Place a slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through both loops on hook.
