Lavender Drawer Sachets

If you are looking for a fresh scented drawer or closet, without having to sew, then these easy lavender drawer sachets are just for you!

So easy to make without any extreme sewing skills, and with only three items, you can have your drawers, closest or an easy to make gift ready in a short period of time.

What goes in Drawer Sachets?

For these sachets, I used dried lavender flower buds, though you don’t have to use them.

You could also try using rice that has been scented with essential oils. Use around 14 drops of essential oils to ½ cup of rice, and let the essential oil absorb into the rice for about 10 minutes before tying up the sachet.

No Sew Sachet Supplies

To make these sachets, you will need:

  • Fabric scrap in a 30cm (12 inch) square
  • ¼ cup dried lavender flower buds or rice and essential oils
  • Ribbon

Lavender

If you already grow lavender in your garden, you could dry some of your own and use that in your drawer sachets. Otherwise, you can purchase it from online shops, such as Amazon.

Making Drawer Sachets

First, make sure you have a scrap of fabric that is or can be cut into a 30cm (12 inch) square.

Cut the ribbon to around 45 cm (18 inch) in length.

Lay the fabric square, face down on the table and carefully place the dried lavender flower buds in the centre of the square. If you are using rice and essential oils, place the rice into the centre of the square and then add the essential oil and then leave to absorb for 10 minutes.

Fold the four corners in, bunching the fabric together and then tie the ribbon, in a knot, around it.

To use: Place the sachet in a drawer or closest to keep linens and clothing smelling fresh. Replace as needed.

Helpful Tips for Drawer Sachets

  • There is no need to hem the fabric or finish the edges. Just cut the fabric with scissors and leave the edges raw.
  • A rubber band or string would work instead of the ribbon. It may not be as pretty, but it gets the job done.
  • Every now and then, gently press the drawer sachet in your hand to help release more scent.
  • The sachets will need to be freshened over time. Just untie the ribbon, add more essential oil if using rice or add a new lot of dried flowers, and tie back up.
