Yarn Wrap Paper Plate Easter Bunny Wreath

Supplies

• Paper plate
• Yarn
• Ribbon or strip of fabric
• 2 pipe cleaners
• Masking tape or sticky tape
• Scissors
• Grey lead pencil
• Bowl to trace around
• Craft knife

Step 1

Create a wreath shape from a paper plate, by cutting a circle from the inside of your paper plate. I used a bowl to trace around, and then cut out the circle with a craft knife.

Your paper plate should now look similar to the one below.

Step 2

Make your bunny ears by bending 2 pipe cleaners in half. My pipe cleaners are 30 cm long.

Step 3

Attach your bunny ears to the back of your paper plate using masking tape or sticky tape.

Turn your wreath over and it should look similar to the one below.

Step 4

Time to start wrapping! Start with your bunny ears first. To wrap your ears, cut a length of yarn in your chosen colour, and simply hold the end of your yarn against the plate, and wrap the yarn over the top of the yarn end.

Step 5

Once your yarn is secure, start wrapping your yarn around the pipe cleaner. Keep going until you have covered the whole pipe cleaner. If like me you are using a thinner yarn, you might need to do a second layer.

Once your ear is covered it should look similar to the one below.

Step 6

Now repeat the process with your second ear.

Step 7

Once your ears are finished, continue wrapping your wreath. Just as we did with the ears, begin each section by cutting a length of yarn in your chosen colour, and simply hold the end of your yarn against the plate, and wrap the yarn over the top of the yarn end.

Keep wrapping until you come to the end of your yarn, turn your plate to the back side and tuck the end of your yarn underneath to secure. You could also tie a knot. Continue the process until your wreath is covered. I found it easier to use smaller lengths of yarn, to prevent it tangling as I wrapped it.

After you have wrapped your entire wreath once, you might find there are a few gaps where the paper plate shows through. Just like with the ears, you might like to do a second layer to fill in the gaps.

Tip: Bend your ears back slightly, when wrapping the wreath in front of them, so the yarn can slip in between the wreath and the ears.

When you have finished your second layer, your wreath will look similar to the one below. Time to add a pretty bow!

To hang your wreath tie some ribbon between your bunny ears.

Why not add some decorations to your bunny wreath? I cut a strip of pink gingham fabric and tied it into a bow. I attached the bow with a safety pin. You might like to add some riboon, fake flowers, or some decorative Easter eggs.
