DIY Rustic Mason Jar Lid Christmas Ornaments

Creating DIY Rustic Mason Jar Lid Christmas Ornaments is a fantastic way to add a touch of charm to your holiday decorations. To make these adorable ornaments, start by gathering mason jar lids, festive ribbon, and small decorative items like pinecones or mini ornaments. Simply hot glue the decorations onto the inside of the lid, attach a loop of ribbon for hanging, and voila! You have a rustic and unique ornament ready to embellish your Christmas tree or gifts. This fun and easy craft is perfect for getting into the holiday spirit and adding a personal touch to your festive decor. Give it a try and enjoy the joy of homemade ornaments this holiday season!

Start by gathering all your supplies. To make these easy tree decorations, you’ll need:

  • mason jar lid rings
  • jute twine
  • ribbon
  • buttons
  • scissors
  • hot glue gun

Start by cutting a long piece of jute twine. You’ll need enough to wrap around your mason jar lid ornament all the way around the lid ring. Glue one end of the string to the inside of the mason jar lid ring. Then begin wrapping the twine around the ring.

I found it was much easier to wrap the twine around the ring if you gather all your extra twine into a ball. The twine ball should be small enough to fit through the hole of the mason jar lid ring. Simply wrap the twine around your fingers and hold it in place as you wrap it around the jar lid.

After you have the entire wring wrapped with wine, cut off any excess twine. Glue the end to the inside of the mason jar lid ring. Then, create a loop with a small piece of twine and glue it to the back of the mason jar lid ornament. That way, you can hang it on your Christmas tree.

Note: If you accidentally run out of twine before you’re finished wrapping, don’t worry! Just glue the end of your twine to the inside of the mason jar lid ornament, then glue the end of a new piece of twine on top. After that, continue wrapping until the whole mason jar lid wring is covered.

Decorate Your Canning Jar Lid Ornaments

When you have all your lid rings wrapped with twine, it’s time to start decorating! I used different sized mason jar lids to vary the design — the larger rings are from wide-mouth jars and the smaller rings are from traditional jars.

The first decoration I made was to add a simple red and white polka dot bow to the top of the wreath. To make this bow, I just created six equal loops (three on each side), pinched the center of the bow together, and tied it off with a small piece of twine. Then, I glued the bow to the top of the wreath and glued a green button on top to cover the twine.

Next, I used red and white gingham ribbon to decorate another mason jar lid wreath ornament, turning it into an adorable DIY rustic Christmas ornament! To decorate this wreath, I glued one end of the gingham ribbon to the back of the ornament, then wrapped it around the mason jar lid ring. When I reached the top, I glued the other end of ribbon to the back of the ornament. Then, I finished off this wreath by adding a green bow on top, which I secured with a drop of hot glue.

My last DIY rustic ornament was decorated with red and green buttons. To decorate my smaller mason jar lid ornament, I glued buttons to the front of the wreath, alternating between red and green. Then, I tied a bow using plain green and red and white gingham ribbon and topped it with a smaller button using hot glue.
