Supplies:

• 1 Plastic Bag
• 2 Earring Hooks
• 2 Beads (be sure to get ones with larger holes in the center)
• 4 Jewelry Jump Rings
• Jewelry Pliers
• Scissors
• Size 2 or letter C Crochet Hook

Upcycled Plastic Bag Flower Earrings Directions:

First, you want to get your plarn ready before you start. You can do that by following these steps here to make plarn or by watching the video below. Cut the plastic in about 1/4 inch pieces.

Now, slide one bead over the end of the plarn. Tip, use the end of the earring to feed the plastic through the bead. Then loop the plarn over the hook and pull it back through itself to make your first starting loop. Then chain two. You do that by looping the plarn over the hook again and then pull it back through itself (doing this two more times to make the chain two).

Slide the bead down to those two loops and then chain two again past the bead.

Now push the end of your hook through the very first loop you made. Wrap the plarn over the end of the hook and pull it through that first loop. That gives you a first loop on the next row.

Then you will chain 4 this time. When you get to the end of that four, place the hook through the center hole by the bead, then loop the plarn over the end and pull it through itself again. Keep doing these steps four more times till you have a total of five loops all the way around.

Next, you will be doing pretty much the same thing as the last step. But this time, you will chain 6 each time. Work your way all the way around again so that you have another five loops around.

When you get to the end this time, you will pull your plarn all the way through. Then flip it over and weave it through a few back loops. Then trim off the extra.

Next to add the earring hook.

Now, take one of your jump rings and clamp it around one of the outer loops. Then take the next jump ring and feed it through the last one and also through the end of the earring hook. Clamp it closed and you are done! Repeat all the steps above to make the second earring for the pair.
