Sugar Jar Snowman Craft

Creating a Sugar Jar Snowman Craft is a delightful way to add a sprinkle of winter charm to your home decor. These charming snowman jars make for a fun and easy crafting activity that is perfect for adding a touch of whimsy to your home during the winter season.

Supplies

You only need five things to make these cute sugar jar snowmen:

• Sugar Pourer Jar or Cheese Shaker Jar from Dollar Tree. You’ll find these jars over in the dishes/glassware area of the store. It doesn’t matter whether you get a sugar pourer or a cheese shaker – the only difference is the lid and you won’t be using that anyway.
• Snowman Head Ornament, from Dollar Tree. These ornaments make this craft super easy because the head, face, hat, and greenery is already assembled.
• Epsom Salt (also found at DT). Epsom salt is pretty and glittery and much easier to work with than fake snow, which is staticky and gets everywhere.
• Black Buttons (also from DT or your craft stash).
• Christmas Ribbon (from DT) OR scrap of flannel (20 x 1.5 inch). I used flannel.

How To Make A Sugar Jar Snowman

Make The Scarf

You’ll begin by making a scarf for your snowman. If you are using ribbon, cut a piece about 24 inches long. If you are using flannel, you’ll want a piece that’s about 1.5 inches wide and 24 inches long. You can cut it if you prefer clean edges, or tear it if you like the frayed look. To tear flannel, just snip it at the width you want and pull.

Next you’ll tie the ribbon or flannel strip around the top of your jar (remove the lid and discard). Tie it in a double knot and trim the ends to whatever length you prefer. You may also snip a fringe in the end of the flannel or ribbon to make it look more like a scarf if desired.

Add Buttons And Epsom Salt

Next, adhere two buttons to the front of the jar. I’ve found that glue dots work very well here. Hot glue will also work, you just may need to hold the buttons in place for a minute or two after gluing.

Then pour some epsom salt into the jar. You don’t need to fill the jar up all the way, just past the top button is great.

Glue On The Head

The last step is to glue on the snowman’s head. If you used flannel and some of it overlapping the top of the jar, you’ll want to glue the flannel to the jar first (or scoot the flannel strip down so the top of the jar is visible).

Finally, run a line of hot glue all the way around the top of the jar, and then place the snowman head on. Hold it for a minute until it’s secure, and then your snowman is complete.
