Supplies Needed

• Wooden popsicle sticks – we used these colored craft sticks. You can also buy regular popsicle sticks and paint with acrylic paint.
• Hot glue gun – used with adult assistance. You can also use tacky glue or an extra strong white glue. Just make to sure to allow enough time for the glue to dry before moving the coaster.

How to Make Popsicle Stick Coasters

You will need 16 sticks per coaster (or 13 sticks if you do not make a second layer): 8 aquamarine sticks (or 5 if you do not do a second layer), 3 pink sticks, 3 peach sticks, and 2 purple sticks.

1. Make a square.

Make a square with 4 popsicle sticks.

Apply hot glue to the ends of the 2 sticks that are going across, doing it one side at a time so that the glue doesn’t dry too fast. You can also use tacky glue, just make sure to allow the sticks enough time to dry before moving the coaster.

2. Add an additional stick into the middle of the square.

Glue an extra stick to the middle of the square vertically for support.

Optional: Add another layer of the aquamarine vertical sticks on top of the 3 you just glued down to make the coaster higher, if desired.

3. Glue sticks on top.

To make the top of the coaster, alternate 8 sticks with different colors and glue them horizontally onto the coaster.

Make sure to leave a small gap between each stick so that all 8 sticks can fit on the top of the coaster.

4. Allow the coaster to dry.

If you are gluing with tacky glue or an extra-strong white glue, allow the coaster to dry completely before moving.
