Angel Ornament from a vintage handkerchief

Creating an angel ornament from a vintage handkerchief is a charming and sentimental craft project that adds a touch of nostalgia to the holiday season. You’ll Need:

• Old handkerchief
• Small styrofoam ball
• White ribbon
• Lace ribbon
• Bead strand
• Glue gun/sticks
• Charms (optional)

Instructions:

1. Lay the old handkerchief flat and wrap a styrofoam ball inside. his will create the head for the angel. (I got my old handkerchiefs from a garage sale)
2. Tie white ribbon around the head of the angel to keep styrofoam ball in place. (Do not cut the extra string…this will be your string to hang the ornament)
3. Take the piece of lace and glue the two ends together…making a circle.
4. Where you glued the lace together scrunch the lace down in the middle. This will create the wings for the angel
5. Turn the angel on its back and hold the scrunched lace over the tied ribbon. Use the ribbon to tie on the lace wings.

1. Next take the strands of beads and cut one strand off. (They sell these at any craft store and come in many different beads and colors)
2. Circle it around the angel’s head to get the correct size of her halo. Glue it together to create a circle…this will become a the angel’s halo. You can also twist the extra beaded string to created a twisted halo.
3. Glue the halo on to the angel’s head. I put a little drop of glue on the front and back of the angel’s head.
4. Flip the angel back over. Where the ribbon goes around the neck you can add charms, mini roses, bows, or any other cute details just to give the angel a cute touch.

1. Next take the two corners of handkerchief which looks like the angel’s arms and fold each to the center. This will create the idea of praying hands.
2. Turn the angel on its back and glue the leftover ribbon to the back of the angel’s head. This will allow the angel to stand straight instead of leaning forward.
3. Tie a final knot at the top of the ribbon to create an opening for the angel ornament to hang on the tree or wherever you choose.
